At the National Level, The Links, Incorporated implements aligned, integrated and transformational programs that are responsive to the academic, health, cultural, social awareness, career development and mentoring needs of youth.

The Services to Youth (STY) facet of The Morris County (NJ) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is aligned with the National Services to Youth initiatives and currently focuses our program efforts on the following initiatives:

  • Provides four (4) year scholarships to high school graduates accepted and enrolled in college/university institutions who have demonstrated academic performance and potential as well as contributed to their communities through community service.
  • Provides “gap” scholarship awards to youth attending an Historically Black College or University (HBCU) and is experiencing a financial funding gap that threatens their ability to obtain a college degree.  This initiative is to help reduce the number of college drop-outs in the African-American student population due to insufficient funding.
  • In support of the Chapter’s umbrella program (Rhythms for Life: Music Matters in Morris County), Services to Youth provides financial support via funding (transportation, meals, tickets) of culturally aligned programs for the violinists and their parents e.g. The Sphinx Virtuosi program at Carnegie Hall, NY, attendance at the Discovery Orchestra performance at Drew University, etc. In addition, there is physical support via co-monitoring of the violin classes and chaperoning of events.
  • Partners with organizations aligned with the Chapter’s strategic objective to increase the number of minorities represented in the career fields of STEAM.  The Chapter has recently partnered with a non-profit organization that will conduct a STEM summer camp for youth who are in 1st through 6th grades.  As a participant in this program, the youth will be exposed and experience several workshops related to STEM education through hands on experiences.
  • Partners with the Morris School District at Frelinghuysen Middle School in Morristown, NJ to host a National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE Jr.) Chapter.
